Valley Proteins fire on March 28

Firefighters battle a blaze on March 28 at Valley Proteins in Linkwood.

CAMBRIDGE — Firefighters responded to a fire on Sunday, April 4, at Valley Proteins in Linkwood, the second of its kind at the processing facility in a week.

The initial call for a fire in the dryer system went out shortly before 6 p.m., and was eventually elevated to two alarms. Emergency crews from Dorchester, Caroline and Wicomico responded and put the fire out successfully.

The first fire at the facility on Sunday, March 28, was also located in the dryer system. It began around 7:50 a.m., and the effort to extinguish the fire was completed by 9:47 a.m.
