CAMBRIDGE — The application for a Dollar Store in the heart of Cambridge’s Pine Street was withdrawn, and the application for an amendment to allow up to 200 units on the Hyatt property was deferred by the applicant, according to the city planning office. The Cambridge Planning and Zoning Commission was scheduled to address both at its Jan. 5 meeting, but an updated agenda released that morning reflected both changes.
The proposal for a Dollar Store located at the corner of High Street and Washington Street met with extensive opposition at the commission’s Dec. 8 meeting.
“The applicant acknowledge (sic) that the lack of support for the project from the neighborhood, Planning Commission and staff was the reason for their withdrawal. They indicated that they may look for another site within the City at a time in the future,” said City Planner Pat Escher in an email.
The request for a Master Plan Amendment to allow up to 200 multi-family units on a parcel on the Hyatt property previously occupied by a building destroyed by a fire. The commission was set to forward a recommendation of denial to the City Council.
