CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge Police have made an arrest in a May shooting on Greenwood Avenue that left a man seriously injured.

Police said detectives investigating the May 27 shooting learned 20-year-old Tayshaun D. Allen was with the victim when the victim received the single gunshot wound to the hip, although Allen denied any involvement.

Cambridge Police Department spokesman Capt. Justin Todd said Allen was in possession of a loaded 9 mm handgun when he was arrested on June 27 in a separate incident.

Todd said analysis showed the shell casing found at the scene of the May 27 shooting matched the handgun Allen was in possession of on his June 27 arrest.

Police served an arrest warrant on Allen on July 7, and he was charged with first- and second-degree assault and multiple handgun charges. He is currently being held without bond in the Dorchester County Detention Center.
