DENTON — Community members will host a fundraiser to help 6-year-old Conner Beish of Denton who battling a form of Batten Disease.

Conner’s disease is very rare, and presently terminal, according to his family.

The event is called the Fighting for Conner Obstacle Course Race, and will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Tardigrade Obstacle Course Racing in Cordova. Registration prior to the event can be done online at

“It was time to fight for this precious little boy and that is what we did and will continue to do,” Conner’s mom Hollie wrote on the Fighting for Conner Facebook page. “Conner is one strong, amazing, loving little boy and we will never stop fighting for him. We will do our best to ensure he has the best care possible from the best doctors. We will love him, cherish him, and make as many memories as possible with him. We will do everything we can to make him smile and be the happiest little boy ever.”

Registration for the Fun Run is $20. Registration for the competitive run is $30. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Batten Disease Support and Research Association.

Race day will be filled with obstacle course racing, kids activities — such as a bounce house, face painting and kindness rock painting — and a special visit from the 501st Legion Star Wars characters.

Conner and another friend he has met along this journey will be there. Information about Batten Disease will be available.

Tardigrade Obstacle Course Racing is located at 11315 Old Cordova Road, Cordova.

The Batten Disease Support and Research Association supports families on their journey, assisting in funding research for therapies and hopefully a cure.

“When we are feeling discouraged and down your support lifts us up to fight another day,” Conner’s mom Hollie wrote on the Fighting for Conner Facebook page. “For that we are eternally grateful to each and every one of you. Thank you.”
