  • 0

Dorchester County Health Department, Harvesting Hope Youth and Family Wellness, and Mace’s Lane Middle School welcomes students to attend the third annual Youth Expo, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Mace’s Lane Middle School. The event is free and for middle and high school age youth, although all family members are welcome to attend.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. There will be numerous giveaways and prizes, games and activities, and youth performances mixed throughout the event. Vendors will be set up to provide resources and information. During several breakout sessions, youth can learn about various educational and inspirational topics, such as healthy relationships, parent-child communication, bullying, financial literacy, school and career options, and more.

Kicking off the event will be keynote speaker and entrepreneur Marcus Bullock, Founder and CEO of Flikshop, Inc., to talk about leveraging challenges to create social change. After serving eight years in prison, he questioned how to make it easier for families to stay connected and offer support during incarceration. His answer was developing an app that lets individuals send postcards to loved ones in prison.

Free transportation is available in Dorchester County, but you must call 443-351-7870 to make arrangements by Feb. 5.
