CAMBRIDGE — A gym teacher at Vienna Elementary School recently received an award for teaching excellence, becoming the only physical education teacher on the Eastern Shore to do so.
VES physical education teacher Shanna Hubbard received the 2020 Simon McNeely Award, an award presented by the Maryland Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE).
SHAPE can give the award to a physical education or health teacher “who demonstrates excellence and innovation in teaching and service.”
“I consider this a real honor because we have lots of amazing P.E. educators in this county,” Hubbard said.
According to its website, SHAPE Maryland’s vision is to become a leading organization which promotes and supports healthier and active Maryland citizens by advocating and promoting personal wellness and healthier lifestyles through educational and community programs.
