School trips cancelled

CAMBRIDGE — Although as of now no cases have been reported in Dorchester County, Dorchester County Public Schools is closely monitoring the situation around COVID-19. According to a statement released by the school system on Wednesday, March 11, out-of-state travel on behalf of DCPS, such as field trips and professional development, is cancelled for the time being.

Shortly following the announcement from DCPS, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) released a similar statement, "Due to recent events regarding the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), MSDE, in consultation with the Maryland Department of Health, is advising that all scheduled out-of-state and international field trips sanctioned by local school systems for students and staff be cancelled indefinitely."

Surrounding districts are also taking the same precautions.
