CAMBRIDGE — Community volunteers cut the ribbon after finishing landscaping planting on a new environmentally friendly parking Saturday, Aug. 29, in Downtown Cambridge.

The project, located in the Black Water Bakery lot in 400 block of Race Street, was an undertaking of the Design—Green Team initiative, which had previously installed the four electric vehicle charging stations at the same site in 2018.

The project was led by Cambridge Main Street with support from the City of Cambridge. The project was funded by Novo Properties, and grants from Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Green Street, Green Jobs, Green Towns program, and the Department of Housing Community Development (DHCD).

The event was also the Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s first ribbon cutting since the begin of the COVID-19 shutdown
