QUEENSTOWN--Three people were hurt, one critically, in a two-vehicle accident at Route 301 and Greenspring Road just east of Queenstown Monday afternoon.
Units from the Queenstown and Grasonville Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene shortly after 3:15 p.m.
Assistant Chief Frank Russum of the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Department, who was the incident commander, said a van traveling south on Route 301 collided with a car that was crossing the highway. The occupants of the car were trapped and the vehicle's door had to be removed using the Jaws of Life to get them out of the car, Russum said.
The two occupants, identified as Victoria Jubinski and Erica Thomas, were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Hospital spokesperson Cindy Rivers said Tuesday that Jubinski was in critical condition and Thomas was discharged on Monday.
Russum said the driver of the van, whose name was not available, was treated at the Queen Anne's Emergency Center.
